Yeh Hah – Cody Wyoming home of Buffalo Bill Cody –Tuesday 1-3 June 2010

Well, as the name suggests this is the town where Buffalo Bill Cody lived and started his wild west shows. They have this beaut hotel in the middle of town called the Irma Hotel (named after his daughter) and every night they have a hammy acting gunfight with locals all dressed up as the various wild west characters. A bit of fun and it gets the crowds into the hotel and the local restaurants afterward for a feed.

We also visited Old Trail Town which is a collection of authentic buildings from the mid to late 1800’s of the old town and also some bought in from other areas and reassembled. A couple of these buildings were frequented by Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and the Hole in the Wall gang. It was a very interesting place and even included the graves of some locally well known outlaws. They have relocated the bodies from other areas to be all together in the one spot. There were newspaper clippings of the reburials back in 1974 which showed Robert Redford as one of the pall bearers. Came away with a sense of what the old days were really like for these people.  Not too good I would imagine.

Wish you were here Vic
