Friday 25th August 2017 - Woodstock NY

Today we decided to go to Woodstock where the famous rock festival was held in the summer of love in 1969.  To our surprise it turns out that although the festival was planned for Woodstock it actually had to be changed to Bethel in the last couple of weeks due to permission being withdrawn at the venue where they had planned to have it.  So, we went to the Woodstock Museum in the hope of some really groovy enlightenment which we found in the form of Nathan who is still back there in the 60's.    First of all we arrived to find a private property with the museum in the back yard.  Nathan came out and said he didn't open till 12 but is only too happy to give us a private tour.  He was just happy to see someone.  So, he talked for about an hour to us about self sufficiency, grooviness and the woes of the world while we were anxiously awaiting to get inside the museum.  When we finally did get in we were standing in a small passageway with posters etc. on the walls mostly cut out of magazines while he talked to us for about another hour about grooviness and enlightenment.  Then we got taken into a room about the size of an average garage where we were shown a documentary of bits and pieces of the festival that lasted for about 15 minutes.  And that was it.  We came out exhausted and earbashed and by then it was lunch time.
