This is a typical 1800's log cabin using all the local timbers, nice wide covered verandas and a breezeway up the middle, very efficient
Back in the thick of the Spanish Moss growing everywhere
There is some rare wildlife here. We had the company of this beautiful white squirrel at our campsite
This is a white deer which is also very uncommon. Couldn't get a good photo as it kept moving. There is also a bear been spotted a couple of times in the last 4 months but unfortunately it didn't appear for us. We even rode around the nature trail at dusk in the hopes of sighting it.
The boat ramp
Not sure what type of bird this is but it sure had a beautiful song
This little deer came right into our campsite
Wednesday 4th October - Panama City FL
We left our great campsite and headed for the state park on St Joseph Island where we booked in for 3 days of sun and surf. The only problem was that as we were waiting to get on to our site we were told that there is a hurricane heading straight for where we were, expected to arrive in 4 days time. Well we had a think about that and decided that we would head back to Cherie and Moon's house in Panama City and beat the rush of everyone trying to leave along that skinny peninsula at the last minute.
Thursday night we went to Cherie and Moon's square dancing club. Now this looks like fun and we thought we'd have a go and just follow what everyone else was doing. Right, well forget that, we didn''t have a clue and mucked up the whole group causing kaos on the dance floor but also getting a good laugh. Once you learn the name of the moves that are being called I'm sure it would be much better. Cherie and Moon know how to swing it.
They also do round dancing there which turned out to be the same as our new vogue except they call the moves as you dance. We weren't real good at that either as they call the steps different names to what we do so we just did our own thing to any music that was remotely appropriate. We also found out that they do something called Bop and Shag on Monday nights which turns out to be West Coast Swing and Jitterbug so looking forward to that one as we know a lot more about those dances.
