Gumbo Jambalaya and crawfish pie on St Patrick's day 17th march 2010

Spent the day in the thick of it, right down there on Bourbon Street, New Orleans.  Sex shops, prostitutes and pimps, voo doo shops as well.  So, if you want a spell put on someone just let me know and I'll get you a doll.  We didn't plan it but we arrived on St Patrick's Day.  Everyone was decidedly green  and decked out in all manner of weird outfits.  Lot's of cheap junkie trinkets to be had but we did resist the urge.  It wasn't really hard.  Walked along the edge of the mighty Mississippi  before having a few drinks and lunch at Pat O'Briens Irish Pub.  We ate Alligator bites for lunch and they were very tasty and very tender, melt in your mouth.  Hard to explain the actual taste because of course they were covered in batter and deep fried and had spices on it, as most of the food is here.  Americans just love their fat.  We ate a meal for one between the two of us and then the free desert came out and we were chockas.

Went into the duelling piano bar after lunch,
those are all beer steins hanging from the ceiling.
The pianist was good but she didn't sing that well.
Killed a couple of classic old tunes.
