Mesa Verde Colorado - Tuesday, 4th May 2010

Climbed about 7,000 feet up the mountains again today into Mesa Verde which is the place where the pueblo indians lived in the cliffs from about 750bc to 1300ad.  We had a great Navajo guide with a great sense of humour who took us on a tour into  the Cliff Palace which is the biggest dwelling among the many that are there.  We had a few tight spots to climb down and back up but it was well worth it.  A very interesting afternoon.

Cliff Palace an amazing structure

A bit of a climb

We went and had a look at a few more of the dwellings on our own which were pretty neat

This gives you an idea of where the dwellings are situated within the cliff.  Very difficult access and hard to imagine how they ever built them in the first place let alone live in them for all those years
