The next stop was Sitka, this is a quieter town that started with the indians as there was a plentiful supply of food and vegetables and good fishing grounds. As the ship came towards the bay you couldn't see a foot in front of you for the fog. After we had been there for a while the fog lifted to reveal a beautiful village. We took a hike to the top of the hill and strolled around the town.
They have a raptor rehabilitation centre there where we saw the bald eagle up close and personal. In this area they call them Alaskan pigeons as they are so common.
