Tuesday 8th August 2017 - Clayton NY

Today we went to an Antique Boat Museum in Clayton where we spent most of the day.  Saw lots of beautiful polished wooden boats, lots of really old motors and and a huge houseboat owned by George Boldt who used to own the Waldof Astoria Hotel in New York City amongst many other properties.

Like the polish

Look at this, Ken Warby who we knew in the 70's when he used to test his jet boat on Lake MacQuarie still holds the world speed record on water

Pretty awesome hey!

We also had a walk around the town where we tasted wine, balsamic vinegar, olive oil and cheese, yummo!

Later in the day we went to visit Boldt Castle which was owned by the super tycoon George Boldt who owned the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York.  He had the place built for his wife and was going to present it to her on Valentines Day but unfortunately she died a month before.  He was devastated and never lived in the castle.  The castle is situated on Heart Island in the 1000 Islands region of New York State
