Boyd Lake SP and Rocky Mountains National Park Colorado –Thursday-Saturday 13-15th May 2010

Well, we’ve had great few days here. The sun was out so we got the camp chairs out and sat in the sun, did some reading, dried all the washing and cleaned the RV. We’ve been adopted by the local Rocky Mountain High RV Club that are camped near us. Friday night we were invited to a nibblies afternoon to celebrate a 50th anniversay and Saturday night we went to a pot luck tea with them where you all cook something and show up and share. We even ended up in their monthly meeting. Luckily we didn’t get elected to any positions on the committee.  All in all a bunch of really nice people.

We can see the Rocky Mountains from where we’re camped and they have been looking pretty snowed in but today we decided to drive up there anyway. We drove through Big Thompson Canyon which was a road next to a river with canyon walls either side.

                                                           A very picturesque drive.

Got to the top of the Rocky Mountains National Park and of course it was snowing again. Bear Lake was just all snow, no water left there at all but very beautiful. Got some good shots of elk, turkey and a squirrel. Just missed the bighorn sheep(that’s twice now) and saw a waterfall.

Mouse had a good time (but she's on the wagon now)

Just a bit of snow

Bear Lake, no water and no bears

But I did get to kiss one bear
